Trezeguet: 'Cavani is an exceptional player'

When passing by the Ooredoo Training Centre for a meeting with Edinson Cavani organised by Italian television station Mediaset, 1998 World Champion David Trezeguet gave his thoughts on Paris Saint-Germain's current affairs.

David, you were at the Ooredoo Training Centre for a meeting with Edinson Cavani… what do you make of the Uruguay international?
"This season, he is back playing in his favourite position. He is showing a lot of drive and enthusiasm and works hard to make himself available to his teammates. He is also showing a lot of power… he's an exceptional player!"

In Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain are fighting it out with Monaco for the title…
"It's great for the French league! Paris Saint-Germain have been dominating Ligue 1 for a long time now. Having a side going toe to toe with them lifts the overall level of the league. I have many strong memories from Monaco (he played there between 1995 and 2000, playing 125 matches in all competitions and scoring 62 goals, while winning French league titles in 1997 and 2000 as well as the 1997 Trophée des Champions). Since the beginning of the season, this team has been showing incredible quality. They team that's the stronger mentally, physically and technically will win the title."

You were at the Parc des Princes for the UEFA Champions League last 16 first-leg clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona (4-0). What did you think of the match?
"It was an exceptional match! Paris Saint-Germain got the win with a high-level performance. The team showed their quality and posed Barcelona a lot of problems. 4-0 is pretty amazing! Even though there is still a return leg to play, Paris are all but qualified for the quarter-finals. The Champions League is the most important competition. There are high-level teams with extremely good players. Paris are one of the sides who are aiming to win the trophy."
