Paris Saint-Germain are delighted to announce the arrival of Emma Berglund. The Sweden defender passed a medical on Wednesday and will meet up with her new team-mates when they return for pre-season training on 24 July. She will wear the number 15 shirt.
The 28-year-old, who was born in Umeå, won the silver medal with her national team at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and also has three Swedish titles and two domestic SuperCups to her name. Before signing for Paris, she had spent her entire career in her native country, playing for Umeå IK (101 matches, 4 goals) and FC Rosengård (48 matches, 3 goals).
"I'm really proud to join Paris Saint-Germain," Emma Berglund said after signing her contract. "It's an important step in my career and I want to give my best for the club so that we can reach the goals we have set ourselves for the coming season. The club's recent run in the Champions League is proof of the standing it has acquired in recent years."
"Emma will bring us her great experience as a defender," Patrice Lair said. "She plays the ball out from the back very well, and will undoubtedly prove a real asset for our central defence and our back four in general."
