Thiago Motta extends his contract until 2018

Paris Saint-Germain is happy to announce that Thiago Motta has extended his contract with the club for a supplementary season. The midfielder is now tied to the club through to 30 June 2018.

With a strong vision of the game and universally acclaimed tactical aptitudes, Thiago Motta has confirmed himself as one of the leaders in the Rouge et Bleu squad since his arrival at the Club in January 2012. Named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season in 2014, the Italian international (30 caps) has contributed to the winning of the 15 titles that Paris Saint-Germain has claimed since 2013. At 35 years of age, Thiago Motta will continue his playing career for another season with the aims of helping the club to win more titles and of sharing his experience with the squad as a whole. Since his first appearance in Parisian colours, against Evian TG on 4 February 2012, the central midfielder has played 203 official matches (11 goals) for the capital club.

"It's a great joy to extend my contract with Paris Saint-Germain, Thiago Motta reacted after putting pen to paper. I have a special history with the club, who have shown a lot of faith in me these last five years. The adventure continues and I'm very happy. We will continue to be competitive and we will give our all to go as far as possible in every competition we participate in."

"We're very satisfied to have extended Thiago's contract, declared Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. Thiago Motta is an important member of the squad and his leadership and knowledge of the game are much appreciated by our fans. Thiago is certainly one of the people to have made a huge contribution to Paris Saint-Germain's growth both in France and internationally. After already having won numerous titles in our colours, Motta will continue to do his part next season to help us achieve our goals."
