Record viewership for beIN SPORTS 1

The UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona (4-0) at the Parc des Princes on 14 February garnered a massive viewership average of over 1.6 million subscribers.

It's a viewership record for beIN SPORTS France, who also logged a record viewership peak of 1.824 million subscribers. "beIN SPORTS also experienced an historic record in the digital realm, with more than 3.6 million videos viewed n the website," announced the broadcaster.

The previous record dated back to 12 April 2016, when over 1.552 million tuned into beIN SPORTS 1 for the 2015-2016 UEFA Champions League quarter-final return leg between the capital club and Manchester City (0-1). The record for beIN SPORTS France had been re-set with each Paris saint-Germain match in the 2015-2016 UEFA Champions League knockout rounds.

In Spain, the clash between the Parisians and the Catalans, broadcast on Antena 3, drew an average audience of 6.238 million viewers during the match. The private free-to-air channel clocked the biggest numbers on Tuesday night primetime.

In Italy, the match was shown by private channel Canale 5, garnering an average viewership of over 4 million.
